Paul Thompson Wildlife Photography
Biodiversity photographer Paul Thompson has been photographing the national parks of Thailand for many years, attempting to create images that showcase Thailand’s amazing, rare and cryptic wildlife.
Paul’s motivation is a deep personal passion for Thailand’s wildlife biodiversity and tropical forests. His aim - to showcase just how biodiverse and therefore environmentally important Thailand is to the rest of the world.
Many of Paul’s images are only possible due to the kind support, hard work and dedication of Thailand’s Department of National Parks (DNP) and staff. Some of the images have taken a high level of planning, logistics, administrative support and diverse technical solutions, taking months and sometimes years to come to fruition. Paul is indebted to the friendship and support he has enjoyed in these endeavours - especially from Ian Edwardes, Chanoknart Faengfoo, Maana Phermbool, Kriengkrai Sripriroj and Suthat Sapphu.
Many of his images have been donated to the DNP for use in conservation and awareness programmes. NGOs working in Thailand can request gratis print packs for their exhibitions/displays.
Paul’s imagery has been used in the support of Thai conservation aims extensively. He was the founder of the “WildllifeThailand” website that promotes Thailand’s parks as well as founding member of the Thailand Wildlife Collective. He has also been honoured with the naming of new species after him, Polydictya thompsoni, after its discovery by him in Thailand’s forests in 2018.
His images have been used to support conservation awareness by, or appeared in, the following:
